兵庫県の中央部多可町で今日でも昔ながらの技術技法ですかれている手すき和紙「杉原紙」は、奈良時代の「播磨紙」の系統を引く和紙と推定されています。かつては日本で1、2位を競うほどの生産量を誇っていました。今日では書道用和紙やカラフルな民芸紙類をすいており、多くの愛好家の間で好評を博しています。
Sugihara paper, a handmade washi paper that is still used today in the town of Taka in central Hyogo Prefecture using traditional techniques, is presumed to be a Japanese paper that draws on the lineage of the Nara period's Harima paper. In the past, it boasted such production that it competed for first or second place in Japan. Today, it is used to make Japanese paper for calligraphy and colorful folk art papers, and it is well received by many enthusiasts.
