⚫︎ 成島和紙 / Narushima Washi
成島で和紙製造が始まったのは、近世上期の寛文元年（1661）以前とされ，クワ科の落葉低木である楮（こうぞ）の皮を原料とし、「ノリウツギ」の粘りをまんべんなく混ぜ合わせ、簀桁で寒中に漉きあげることで、素朴で味わいのある独特の紙質の和紙が作られています。生産量は少ないとはいうものの、紙質に魅せられて、今なお、全国各地で愛用されています。
Washi production began in Narushima before the first year of Kanbun (1661) in the early modern period, and by using the bark of the mulberry tree, mixing the stickiness of "Nori Tsugigi" evenly and straining it with a girder, to make washi paper with a unique paper quality with a simple taste.
