This bamboo craft is a tradition in the Suruga region of Shizuoka Prefecture. The river basin formed by the Abe River, which flows through Shizuoka and Fuchu, and its tributary, the Warashina River, has long produced high-quality young bamboo and light bamboo. Baskets and baskets dating back to the Yayoi period have been excavated from the Toro ruins, indicating that bamboo products have been an established part of daily life in this area since ancient times. A variety of delicate and elegant items are produced, making use of the texture, color, luster, and quality of bamboo.
