Kishu Kiri Tansu

和歌山県和歌山市周辺で作られている木工品です。現在の和歌山県にあたる紀州で製作技術が確立したことから、「紀州箪笥」と呼ばれています。自然豊かな木の国で、木の神・五十猛命（いたけるのみこと）に見守られ生産される紀州箪笥。耐久性と装飾性に優れ、高級箪笥として、多くの人から愛されています。紀州箪笥の特徴は、桐の柔らかい質感です。質の良い桐材を使い、繊細な工法で組み上げた箪笥は、ソフトな仕上がりになっています。また、見た目の美しさも、多くの支持を得ているポイントです。との粉による仕上げを行う際、木目をいかして整えるため、なめらかで美しい表面になり、多くの人を魅了しているのです。丁寧に磨かれた表面は、引き出しの軽い動きも助けています。

Beautiful wooden boxes known as Kishu tansu are made in the area surrounding Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, using manufacturing techniques established in Kishu (now Wakayama Prefecture). Kishu tansu are produced under the watchful eye of Ikutakeru-no-Mikoto, the god of trees. They are made of high-quality paulownia wood and assembled using traditional techniques. Careful polishing results in a beautifully smooth surface and helps the drawers glide easily. People cherish Kishu tansu because they are decorative as well as durable.
