竹棒
Takebō・Bamboo sticks
竹棒とは、金箔貼り工程で用いられる、細く磨かれた竹の棒のことです。「筆」やガイド棒のような役割を担い、繊細な金箔を破ったり皺を寄せたりすることなく、移動させたり、持ち上げたり、調整したりすることができます。磨かれた竹は、滑りやすい金属とは異なり、ちょうど良い摩擦力を持っています。
Slender, polished bamboo sticks (sometimes called takebō 竹棒), used as handling tools in the gold leaf process. They function almost like “brushes” or guiding wands, allowing artisans to move, lift, or adjust fragile gold leaf sheets without tearing or wrinkling them. Polished bamboo holds just enough friction to control movement, unlike slippery metal.
