Kashima Nishiki

Kashima Nishiki is a luxurious traditional brocade originating from Kashima City, Saga Prefecture. The name reflects its nature as a type of nishiki, a highly prized silk textile known for its intricate and vibrant patterns. Artisans meticulously hand-weave fine threads, often including metallic gold and silver, to create shimmering, multi-colored designs. This sophisticated craft is used to produce exquisite items like belts, purses, and pouches, making Kashima Nishiki a treasured part of the region’s textile heritage.
