Ayatsuzure Ori

Ayatsuzure Ori is a traditional tapestry weaving technique from Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture. The name combines aya, suggesting a beautiful or patterned weave, and tsuzure-ori, the term for hand-woven tapestry. This highly skilled craft involves artisans meticulously weaving intricate, pictorial designs by hand, often using their own fingers as a shuttle. The result is a dense, durable, and richly patterned fabric. Ayatsuzure Ori is a testament to the region’s revered textile heritage and the artistry of its weavers.
