Hatashou Tsumugi

Hatashou Tsumugi is a traditional hand-woven silk fabric from Aisou town, Shiga Prefecture. Born after World War II, it applies the techniques of the region's older Omi Joufu linen weaving to silk. A key feature is the "comb-push dyeing" technique (kushi-oshi nasen), which creates unique and soft ikat patterns. Made from hand-spun floss silk, it is known for its warm, rustic feel and beautiful drape. Hatashou Tsumugi is designated as a traditional craft of Shiga Prefecture.
