Sankaku Daruma

三角達磨は起上がり小坊師のひとつで、その昔から七転び八起きを願い，　農村にあっては蚕がよく起きるように、漁村にあっては舟が嵐にあっても　早く浮き上がれるように、また病気や災いなどから早く再起できるようにと願いをかけた縁起物です。「七転び八起き」「無病息災」「家内安全」「厄除け」を願い、市（いち）や縁日などで販売されていました。
厚紙を円錐形に作り底に粘土を重しとして付け、和紙を貼り、色付けした物でその形の珍しさでは全国的に類を見ず、新潟県を代表する民芸品になっています。
