Established in the Tottori prefecture in 1971, the Iwai Kiln was opened by Noriyuki Yamamoto. Yamamoto was inspired to become pursue his career after meeting famed potter Bernard Leech. The work produced in the Iwai kiln is diverse in style, including earthenware pots, vessels with strong glazes, and pieces with decorative inlaying and scraping techniques.
