Amended translation: Opened in 1970, the Daisen Yaki Kugo kiln revived the practice of Oyama ware (popular during the Taisho era). They primarily use and research iron glazes, and produce tamahagane yotenmoku, celadon, yu-teki, hon-yaki, and ash glazes. The kiln’s pottery is characterized by a deep, calm atmosphere that combines the blue-green of celadon with the black to persimmon color of tenmoku, and combines simplicity with a modern sensibility.
