鉄扇

鉄扇は、武家社会で刀が持てない場所での護身用として携帯された、鉄製の扇子です。当時の武士たちにとっては、いつ襲われるかわからない状況で身を守るための重要な道具でした。

The iron fan was a folding fan made of iron that was carried for self-defense
in samurai society in places where swords could not be carried. For the
samurai of the time, it was an important tool for protecting themselves in
situations where they did not know when they might be attacked.
