These oke (buckets) made in Sekimachi, Kameyama City, are a traditional craft of Mie Prefecture. When Seki developed as a post town on the Tokaido road in the early modern period, there was high demand for foot washing buckets. These oke are made from sawara wood, which is resistant to water.
