These durable and decorative baskets are made from bamboo harvested at the foot of Mt. Iwaki and Mt. Hakkoda. Originally developed for use in apple harvesting, the uses for these baskets have expanded over time. Unlike bamboo baskets made in other regions of Japan, these baskets are made using hexagonal patterns or other open-weave designs that give them a more rustic look.
