Teori Sanada Himo

Teori Sanada Himo is a strong, inelastic, hand-woven cord from Higashioumi city in Shiga Prefecture. Unlike Kumihimo, which is braided, this is a dense, flat woven textile made with warp and weft threads, said to be one of the world's narrowest fabrics. Due to its exceptional durability, it was historically used by samurai as sword cords and armor ties. In the world of the tea ceremony, it is highly valued for tying the paulownia wood boxes that hold tea utensils, with unique patterns and tying methods serving as a form of authentication and identification for different families and schools.
