約100年前に誕生の工芸品「善知鳥彫ダルマ」
赤い服にぎょろりとした目が特徴の工芸品です。
名称となっている善知鳥は、昔、青森県にいたという鳥にちなんで付けられています。材料には、軽くて柔らかいポプラやヒバが用いられており、通常目にすることができるだるまとは全く異なった印象を与えてくれます。形としては深紅の衣に包まれた細身の状態で前方を見据えるという独特な風貌となり、これは、悟りを開いて座禅から立ち上がって、足を前に踏み出そうとしている姿を表現したものとなっています。

善知鳥彫ダルマ (Utou Bori Daruma) are wooden Daruma dolls crafted using the traditional Utou bori carving technique. The process involves hand-carving the wood to shape it into the iconic Daruma form, followed by painting with vibrant colors to highlight its symbolic features, representing perseverance and good fortune. This method showcases expert craftsmanship and attention to detail.
