Kankake Yaki originates from Shodoshima (Shodo Island) in Kagawa prefecture. Established during the meiji period, this form of pottery specialises in tea ware and, to this day, can be found in speciality tea ware stores across Japan. The pottery can be characterised by the combination of two different glazes during firing, resulting in every vessel made bearing completely unique decoration.
