Aioi-yaki, also known as Inuyama ware, is a ceramic tradition from Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture, dating back to the early 19th century under the patronage of Inuyama Castle lords. Known for vivid red-and-green overglaze designs of cherry blossoms and maple leaves, it’s crafted in historic ascending kilns. Though production waned in the Meiji era, it was revived and is now maintained by a few studios—most notably the Ozeki Sakujūrō Aioi Ceramic Studio—where visitors can still experience traditional pottery-making.
