Amended translation: Opened in Yamane, Aoya Town, in the spring of 1985, Yamane Gama features pottery created using a kick wheel and fired in a climbing kiln. Yamane Kiln's products have a subdued, contrasting colour scheme. The clay they use contains iron, which gives it a slightly dark colour, so they create patterns using a white coating with less iron, or apply iron sand (iron powder) over the glaze. In recent years, they have also been working on creating products incorporating designs from slipware (oven-inserted dishes for baking pies and other treats), which are closely associated with British life.
