Kiryu Washi

The sturdy yellow washi paper produced in the Umeda area of the upper reaches of the Kiryu River is called "Kiryu paper" and was used for daifuku books, school books, shoji paper, etc., and was produced in large quantities until around the end of the Taisho era. Kiryu washi has been highly evaluated for its commitment to the production method and its unique sheer feeling, crisp texture, and has been chosen as a material for creative works such as calligraphy and paintings.
