⚫︎ 越前和紙 / ECHIZEN Washi
室町時代から江戸時代にかけて公家や武家階級の公用紙として使われ、幕府や領主の保護を受けて発展していきました。日本最古の紙幣といわれる福井藩札も生産し、およそ1500年にわたり紙漉きの技は受け継がれています。
From the Muromachi period to the Edo period, this paper was used as official paper by the aristocratic and samurai classes, and it developed under the protection of the shogunate and feudal lords. It also produced the Fukui hansatsu (feudal domain notes), which are said to be Japan’s oldest paper currency. The papermaking techniques have been passed down for approximately 1,500 years.
