豊岡杞柳細工 Toyooka willow basket weaving

Toyooka Kiryuzaiku is a willow basket weaving produced in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture. The origin is said to be around the beginning of the 1st century, and it is made out of a willow called Koriyanagi. It is characterized by being durable with both supple softness and moderate hardness. There are 6 types of rope knitting, 33 types of side knitting (sokuami), and 18 types of edging (fuchigumi), and varieties of shapes can be formed using the combination of these types of knitting.

豊岡杞柳細工 (とよおかきりゅうざいく)は兵庫県豊岡市で生産されている柳のかご細工です。起源は1世紀の始め頃と言われており、原料は杞柳(コリヤナギ)が使われています。しなやかなやわらかさと適度な硬さを兼ね備えて丈夫であることが特徴です。縄編みが6種類、側編み(そくあみ)が33種類、縁組(ふちぐみ)18種類あり、豊富な編み方から様々な形を成形することができます。
